The Pisac style of ceramics is believed to have originated during Incan times in the city of Cuzco. Geometric designs like dots, circles, diamond shapes and crisscrossed lines were commonly used decorations. The colors used were a variety of reds, ochres, blacks and yellows from oxides and colored earth. These pieces are made using a variety of techniques: spun on a potter's wheel, made with molds, or hand-shaped. The formed pieces are then fired and decorated with paints and varnishes.
