In 1936, society woman Ruth Harkness journeyed to China to settle the affairs of her husband, who died while observing the panda bear. Her decision to take up his work marks the beginning of the world's fascination with this rare animal. She eventually returned to the United States with a baby panda - the first live panda seen by the Western world. A featured attraction at Chicago's Brookfield Zoo during its lifetime, the panda, Su Lin, is now on exhibit at The Field Museum. Approximately 49 minutes.
