The tradition of storytellers began in the 1960's with Helen Cordero of the Cochiti Pueblo in New Mexico, although the tradition of pottery figures has existed for hundreds of years. Dennis Anderson, a storyteller master from Cochiti, gets inspiration from real life stories and the Cochiti people. This piece represents a woman who combines the modern world with the Indian way through the books and children with which she surrounds herself. Main figure 6 inches high. Each separate child is 1 1/2 inches high.
