The tradition of storytellers began in the 1960's with Helen Cordero of the Cochiti Pueblo in New Mexico, although the tradition of pottery figures has existed for hundreds of years. Dennis Anderson, a storyteller master from Cochiti, gets inspiration from real life stories. This piece represents a man who lost his wife on 9/11. She is represented by the angel on his shoulder, while his children and grandchildren gather on his lap. 6 3/4 inches high.
