The Field Museum of Natural History building, designed by noted Chicago architect, Daniel Burnham, was completed on May 2, 1921, after five years of construction. The Museum building is 706 feet long, 438 feet wide, 105 feet high, covers more than 17 acres of floor space, and houses a collection of over 23,000,000 specimens and artifacts.
