Bastet Gold Plated Field Museum Ornament

Bastet Gold Plated Field Museum Ornament

Item #: 021257
This 24K gold-plated ornament is based on an Egyptian bronze cat in The Field Museum's collection. The bronze figure dates from the 26th Dynasty, ca. 600 B.C. Egyptians considered cats to be incarnations of Bastet, the goddess of joy. When a cat died, it was considered an act of great merit to provide for its funeral.

The ornament is 3 1/2" long.
