Faceted serpentine and round carnelian beads dangle from oxidized sterling ear wires, separated by an oxidized granular sterling bead. Although unrelated to the true jade minerals of jadeite and nephrite, this yellow-green variety of serpentine is often referred to as "olive jade." Iron oxide in the carnelian variety of quartz colors the stone in a range of pigments from light reddish orange to deep, transparent brownish red.
