Iron oxide in the carnelian variety of quartz colors the stone in a range of pigments, from light reddish orange to deep, transparent brownish red. Here, gold-filled wire wraps three briolettes of the darker type of carnelian to a chocolate brown leather cord. Faceted smoky quartz accent beads separate the briolettes, and a serpentine bead dangles at the gold-filled "lobster" clasp.
