The Lady and the Panda

The Lady and the Panda

Item #: 062522
In 1936, Ruth Harkness, a recently widowed American socialite, led an unlikely expedition into the remote mountains of China, capturing a giant panda and bringing it back alive - the first live panda seen by the Western world. A featured attraction at Chicago's Brookfield Zoo during its lifetime, the panda, Su Lin, is now on exhibit at The Field Museum.
