Garnet, the birthstone of January, is one of the most prevalent gemstones, and has been used as such since the Bronze Age. Certain species of garnet, such as almandine, are also used commercially as abrasives due to their hardness. Here we see lovely faceted garnets in their purest form as drops on gold filled findings.
