After discovering pottery fragments from his ancestors in Northern Mexico in the 1970Æs, Juan Quezada began to teach himself this craft. He grew to be a world renowned master potter, who then went on to teach other Mata Ortiz villagers to become important artists of this traditional craft. This polychrome badger pot is by Carlos Villalba, a noted apprentice of Juan Quezada.
