More than 400 Kachinas or life bringers exist in the Hopi and pueblo cultures of the Southwest. Well known artist Robert Gaddy brings his master carving skills to this Owl, known as Mongwu in the Hopi language. In several ceremonial dances Mongwu leads other Kachinas to punish the Clown Kachinas for their un-Hopi like behavior. This brilliantly painted and carved piece stands 13 inches tall and is decorated with aged leather.
