This sterling silver pendant is a reproduction of a female figurine found in an Egyptian tomb. The figure dates to the predynastic period (just before 2925 B.C.E.), but little else is known about it. Other figures of this type have been interpreted as dancers, goddesses, and symbols of rebirth. The figure measures 2" high and is suspended from a 28" black cord.
You will find some of the artifacts from the Field Museum's predynastic collection in the Museum's Stanley Field Hall.
